As the Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Rivers State, she has been a vocal advocate for healthcare reform and regional cooperation. She has sponsored 13 bills focused on public health, gender equality, and national development, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to improving healthcare policies and strengthening women’s rights.

One of Senator Banigo’s most notable initiatives is the Bringing Healthcare Initiative, a zonal intervention project that provides free healthcare services to 8,000 constituents in her senatorial district. She has also championed legislative and policy reforms to promote women’s rights, girls’ education, gender equality, and economic empowerment ¹.

In response to her recognition by The Guardian, she shared her inspiring story, offering a glimpse into her remarkable background, illustrious career in public service and passionate engagement in politics, and offered valuable advice to girls and women.

What inspired your decision to study medicine, and how has your academic and professional background impacted your political engagements?

My decision to pursue medicine and later transition into politics has been deeply rooted in a sense of divine purpose and an unwavering commitment to service. As a born-again Christian, I believe that every calling must serve a greater good, and for me, that calling has always been about saving lives, uplifting communities, and driving meaningful change. My journey into medicine was inspired by a deep compassion for the sick, particularly among women, children, and underserved populations. From an early age, I was profoundly moved by the struggles of those who lacked access to quality healthcare, and this fueled my resolve to study medicine, equipping myself with the skills to provide healing and hope where it was needed most.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles in public health, including as Director of Public Health Services, Permanent Secretary in the Rivers State Ministry of Health, and later as the Deputy Governor of Rivers State. These experiences gave me firsthand insight into the systemic challenges within our healthcare system, reinforcing my belief that true transformation requires more than just medical interventions. To effect lasting change, governance, policy reforms, and legislative action are essential. It became clear to me that many of the barriers to quality healthcare were deeply rooted in policy gaps, inadequate funding, and inefficient systems. This realization ignited my passion for public service beyond the walls of hospitals and government agencies, leading me to embrace politics as a platform for a broader impact.

Guided by my faith and a firm belief in service, integrity, and justice, I transitioned into politics with the determination to address systemic healthcare challenges, advocate for the rights of women and children, and promote good governance. Leadership, to me, is not merely a political position but a divine assignment—an opportunity to shape policies that uplift lives and ensure that governance serves the people in the most meaningful way. As a Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, I have continued this mission, striving to make a difference through legislative reforms and advocacy.

The Office of Sen. Dr. Ipalibo Harry Bamigo has witnessed the smooth running of operations and peace and has maintained its integrity over the years. what factors would you ascribe to this?

The offices of Sen. Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo have maintained efficiency, stability, and steady growth over the years because of a steadfast commitment to servant leadership, integrity, and impactful governance under God’s direction. I firmly believe that leadership is a Kingdom assignment, and by seeking divine wisdom, my offices have thrived in an atmosphere of peace, growth, and excellence, ensuring that governance remains not just an obligation but a divine calling to uplift lives in both administrative, executive and legislative roles.

What qualities, aside from education and good character, are essential for a woman to succeed in Nigerian public service and society?

Beyond education and good character, a woman aspiring to leadership in Nigerian politics, corporate governance, and the public sector must embrace the God Factor—anchoring her journey in faith, divine wisdom, and purpose-driven leadership. True success is not merely about ambition or strategy; it is rooted in God’s grace and direction. Leadership is a calling, and a woman must recognize her divine assignment, set clear goals, and align her mission with God’s plan—not just for her own advancement but for the good of society. However, the road to the top is never easy. Challenges, opposition, and setbacks will arise, but she must cultivate resilience, spiritual strength, and emotional intelligence to navigate obstacles with wisdom and courage.

Strategic relationships are also essential. Building God-ordained alliances across political, corporate, and social spheres opens doors to opportunities and influence. Leadership requires bold decision-making, the ability to challenge injustices, and the confidence to stand on godly principles—even in the face of adversity. As the Bible reminds us, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Beyond spiritual strength, financial literacy is also crucial. She must be financially empowered to sustain her vision, knowing that wealth, when managed wisely, is a tool for impact and Kingdom advancement. Equally important is the power of effective communication—being able to articulate a vision, inspire action, and command respect with wisdom and grace.
Most importantly, integrity must never be compromised. Success should not come at the cost of one’s values. A woman should stand for justice, lead with righteousness, and be a light in governance, business, and society. Seeking godly mentors, continuous learning, and divine guidance ensures longevity and relevance in leadership.
True success in Nigerian politics, corporate leadership, and public service is not by power or might, but by God’s spirit (Zechariah 4:6). A woman who puts God first, leads with integrity, and remains resilient will not only rise to the top but will create lasting impact, paving the way for generations to come.
How would you rate the level of participation of women in politics and governance in Nigeria?
Women’s participation in Nigerian politics and governance remains alarmingly low despite decades of advocacy for gender inclusion. Today, women hold less than 10% of elective and appointive positions at both the federal and state levels. In the 10th National Assembly, women occupy only 3.6% of Senate seats (4 out of 109) and 4.7% of House of Representatives seats (17 out of 360), which is a sharp decline from previous assemblies. At the state level, women make up less than 5% of legislators across Nigeria’s 36 State Houses of Assembly. No female governor was elected in 2023, and historically, only a handful of women have held such positions, mostly in acting capacities.

Beyond the legislature, the situation remains bleak. Women hold less than 20% of ministerial and commissioner positions, far below the 35% affirmative action target. Despite being drivers of grassroots development, women chair fewer than 5% of the 774 local government councils. The statistics are clear: women remain marginalized in the Nigerian political landscape.

This disparity is not due to a lack of competence or political ambition but rather systemic barriers that hinder women’s participation. Deep-rooted patriarchal norms and societal bias continue to sideline women from leadership roles, reinforcing the belief that politics is a male-dominated space. Within political party structures, women struggle to secure tickets for elective positions, as party leadership remains overwhelmingly male-dominated. The high financial cost of politics also presents a major hurdle, limiting women’s ability to campaign effectively. Additionally, many women in politics face intimidation, electoral violence, and discrimination, further discouraging their participation.

Despite these challenges, progress is possible. Increasing financial and structural support for female candidates, ensuring stronger enforcement of gender quotas, and reforming political party systems are key steps toward greater inclusion. Moreover, mentorship and leadership programs can help build a pipeline of capable women leaders ready to take on governance roles.

Ultimately, breaking these barriers requires a collective effort from policymakers to civil society, from the electorate to political parties. Nigeria’s democracy cannot thrive when half of its population is excluded from decision-making. Women must not only be seen as political participants but also as leaders, policymakers, and changemakers shaping the nation’s future.

Unveiling the Architect: A Glimpse into Her Journey
My name is Architect Mobolaji Adeola Adeniyi, and I come from a distinguished family. I was born in London, United Kingdom, to the late Chief (Dr.) Kolawole Olafimihan, a highly respected obstetrician and gynaecologist known for his contributions to maternal and child health, and to Chief (Mrs.) Violet Olafimihan, a supportive and nurturing figure in my life. I pursued my academic journey in architecture at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in 1980, followed by a Master’s degree in 1982. My education equipped me with a robust foundation in architectural design and theory, fostering a deep commitment to the built environment. Professionally, I have achieved the status of a Fellow in our Institute, which recognizes my expertise and contributions to the field. Additionally, I am honoured to be an international member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), allowing me to engage with a global network of architectural professionals. On the personal front, I am happily married to Dr. Adedapo Adeniyi, a partner who shares my passion for excellence and service. Together, we are blessed with a wonderful family, including children and grandchildren, who bring joy and fulfilment to our lives.

Shaping a Mastermind: The Mentors and Guiding Lights Who Fueled Her Success
I started my career as an Architect with the famous Allied Architects in Ibadan, working with the late Arc. D.O Fadele & Arc Layi Ojo were pioneer practicing architects in the then western region of Nigeria. I later worked with Egboramy Company, a group of Israeli Architects based in Ibadan, before moving into Academics. I lectured in the department of Architecture at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, for eight years and rose through the ranks to the post of Acting H. O. D. before leaving for private practice. I started my private practice journey in partnership with some Colleagues in a Firm called AAA Consortium from 1993-1995, from where I took the bold step of establishing my Architectural firm in 1995, Mobolaji Adeniyi & Associates Limited (MAA), where I am the CEO and Principal Partner to date. This was at a time when there were only two Female Architects who owned Architectural practices in Ibadan, The firm has grown from a humble beginning to one of the most successful Architectural Firms in Oyo State. MAA is renowned for its organic style of architecture as well as green architecture, which pays attention to functional and sustainable designs, especially in institutional and health care designs. Some of the firm’s projects include: Bowen Chapel, Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Bowen Senate Building, Iwo Osun State, Proposed Jaja Clinic Extension, University of Ibadan, Faculty of Law, Chrisland University, Ogun State, Cardiac Centre, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Faculty of Law, Ajayi Crowther University, Proposed College of Pharmacy, Chrisland University, Proposed Conference Centre for University of Abuja, Office Complex for Nigerian Baptist Convention, Ibadan, Oyo State and Proposed Baptist Tower, Lagos.

Breaking Barriers: Overcoming Obstacles as a Female Architect
As a dedicated woman of excellence, I have always upheld the values of discipline and hard work as the cornerstones of my personal and professional growth. My parents played a pivotal role in shaping these values; they not only believed in my dreams but also provided unwavering support, careful training, and nurturing guidance throughout my formative years. Their faith in me instilled a deep sense of confidence, and they were indeed my first clients, encouraging my aspirations from an early age. My husband has been an incredible source of encouragement and support, consistently cheering me on as I navigated my career. His belief in my abilities has been a foundation of strength during challenging times. In the initial phases of my career, I was fortunate to be mentored by esteemed professionals such as the late Emeritus Professor E.A. Adeyemi, Arc. Tunde Ogunniyi, the late Arc. Bilewu, and Arc. Fadele. Their insights and guidance were invaluable, providing me with a wealth of knowledge and experience that significantly influenced my development as an architect. I have also found profound inspiration in the achievements of remarkable female architects, such as Arc. Olubukunola Ejiwunmi and Arc. Fola Olumide. Their successes and dedication to their craft not only empowered me but also paved the way for other women in the field, proving that it is possible to thrive as a female architect in a male-dominated industry. Moreover, international luminaries like Zaha Hadid and Frank Lloyd Wright have inspired me with their innovative designs and visionary approaches to architecture. Their ground-breaking work serves as a constant reminder of the limitless possibilities within the field and fuels my passion for creativity and excellence in my own practice.

Being a woman, what are the challenges you have encountered in the course of your professional journey, and how did you tackle them?

For anyone dedicated to the journey toward greatness, encountering challenges is a natural part of the process. As a woman navigating a male-dominated profession, I faced numerous obstacles in establishing the confidence of my clients, particularly during the formative years of my career. There was a pervasive belief among many that a woman might struggle to handle the demands of supervisory positions or assert control on-site. This resulted in significant gender bias that I encountered from corporate clients and government agencies alike. To counteract this prejudice, I found myself having to exert twice the effort to prove my capabilities and secure the trust and respect of my clients. Furthermore, the challenge of balancing work responsibilities with home life was considerable. As a nursing mother, there were instances when I had to bring my baby to construction sites, navigating the complexities of professional obligations while ensuring my child’s needs were met. I distinctly remember traveling with my baby in tow to sit for rigorous professional exams, a situation that required immense focus and determination. Additionally, my ability to travel for work was often limited in comparison to my male colleagues, whose freedom to engage in networking and advancement opportunities unburdened by family obligations highlighted the disparities I faced. These experiences shaped my resilience and commitment to paving the way for other women in similar fields, underscoring the importance of breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity in the workplace.

A New Era of Excellence: Her Visionary Leadership at the Nigerian Institute of Architects
As someone deeply passionate about the welfare of architects and the field of architecture, it has been an honour to serve as the President of our esteemed Institute for the past 14 months.  Upon taking office at the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), I introduced the “UNITE” agenda—an ambitious and strategic framework aimed at promoting growth, inclusivity, and excellence within the architectural profession. This agenda emphasizes Unity, Integrity, Inclusivity, mentorship, collaboration with allied professionals, and the empowerment of all levels of architects. Recognizing the evolving challenges that architects face in Nigeria, I developed this initiative to create a more cohesive, dynamic, and forward-thinking professional community. The UNITE agenda serves as a blueprint for strengthening the architecture industry through collaboration, ethical practices, and professional development. During my tenure, I have addressed significant industry challenges, including issues related to professional recognition, regulatory bottlenecks, and necessary reforms in architectural education. I am a vocal advocate for maintaining high ethical standards, underscoring the importance of accountability, excellence, and adherence to best practices. My vision extends beyond merely transforming the Nigerian Institute of Architects; I aim to redefine the architecture profession in Nigeria as a whole. By fostering a culture of collaboration, ethical leadership, and inclusivity, I aspire to build an industry that is more respected, influential, and capable of shaping the nation’s future.

A Legacy of Distinction: Highlights of Her Presidency
In our efforts to elevate the image of Nigerian architects, we have embraced collaboration and strategic integration with both local and international professional bodies. Our partnerships extend to esteemed organizations such as the UIA (International Union of Architects), AUA (African Union of Architects), ACAN (Association of Consulting Architects Nigeria), AARCHES (Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria), and FAN (Female Architects of Nigeria). These alliances are instrumental in expanding our professional horizons and fostering a more inclusive, globally connected architectural community. Recognizing the need to bridge the generational gap in the profession, we have prioritized the inclusion of young architects who often feel disconnected from the older generation. To this end, we inaugurated the Young Architects Forum—a dedicated platform that provides them with opportunities for mentorship, professional growth, and the freedom to express their ideas. This initiative ensures that they have a voice in shaping the future of architecture in Nigeria. Furthermore, we have established a Government Interface Committee to advocate for greater recognition of architects at all levels of government. This committee plays a crucial role in advising policymakers on developmental issues, particularly those concerning the built environment. Another key area of focus is advocacy for inclusive design. We are actively pushing for the retrofitting of public buildings to accommodate people with disabilities, ensuring that accessibility becomes a fundamental principle in architectural practice. Additionally, we are committed to retraining architects to equip them with the necessary skills to meet these evolving challenges and create a more inclusive and sustainable built environment.

Charting a Course for Future Success: Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi’s Goals and Aspirations
As one of the leading female architects in Nigeria, I am deeply committed to promoting gender equity within the field of architecture and fostering greater opportunities for women in leadership roles. Through structured mentorship programs, professional development workshops, and dynamic knowledge-sharing sessions, I aim to empower aspiring female architects and help them navigate the challenges of the industry. In addition to my focus on gender equity, I am passionate about preserving our rich cultural heritage and showcasing the beauty of Nigerian architecture on the global stage. My advocacy encompasses not only the promotion of innovative design that reflects our unique cultural identity but also the importance of sustainable practices that honour our environment. I intend to continue my efforts to elevate Nigerian architecture by engaging with local communities and international platforms, ensuring that our voices and contributions are recognized and celebrated worldwide. Through these initiatives, I hope to inspire a new generation of architects who are equipped to push the boundaries of creativity and impact within the profession.

I led the introduction of Nigeria’s first automotive virtual car showroom using VR technology, revolutionizing the customer experience at the time. Additionally, I led some of the first lifestyle experiences in the Nigerian auto industry, such as the Heritage Week, where we partnered with strong brands like Canon and Diageo to create memorable experiences for our customers. We also launched a pickup truck at the beach to showcase the vehicle’s off-road capabilities, providing a unique experience for our customers. These challenges force you to go back to the drawing board and make necessary changes that foster growth. This perspective has helped me emerge stronger each time. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenge was how to continue marketing amidst uncertainty and determine the best strategies to adopt. Thank God our decision to go more digital paid off. This approach not only kept our customers engaged but also allowed us to pioneer various innovative activities. These initiatives set new standards in the industry and demonstrated our ability to adapt and thrive in difficult times.

Chinyelu Offodile-Menkiti: A Visionary Leader Driving Impact and Empowering Women.

Offodile-Menkiti:
Offodile-Menkiti:

Chinyelu Offodile-Menkiti stands as a testament to the power of dynamic and results-oriented leadership, boasting over two decades of experience in spearheading business transformation, operational excellence, and strategic growth.

She is the Chief Operations Officer of Helium Health, an innovative health tech company revolutionizing healthcare across Sub-Saharan Africa and the GCC, leading the continent’s transition to technology and data-driven health systems to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.

Her career is marked by a consistent track record of success in scaling organizations, enhancing profitability, and optimizing operations to achieve sustainable long-term success. With a profound understanding of strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and the implementation of enterprise-wide process improvements, she has led initiatives that have yielded multi-million-dollar revenue growth and significant gains in efficiency.

Her capabilities extend to the crucial areas of building and leading high-performance teams, nurturing a culture of innovation, and effectively bridging the divide between strategic vision and practical execution, thereby accelerating growth within competitive market environments.

Beyond her impressive technical and strategic acumen, Chinyelu is recognized as a visionary leader who possesses a remarkable ability to navigate the complex landscapes of the business world. Her professional journey is underpinned by a deep-seated passion for driving sustainable impact, a commitment to leveraging data-driven decision-making processes, and a dedication to transforming organizations to realize their utmost potential.

When reflecting on the driving forces behind her successful career, Chinyelu articulates a passion deeply rooted in the desire to create a lasting impact. “My passion is driven by my desire to leave an impact that creates a footprint of change and transformation”. This intrinsic motivation fuels her work with businesses, teams, and individuals, where she thrives on unlocking latent potential and inspiring others to aspire to and achieve greater accomplishments.

She firmly believes that the essence of true leadership transcends individual achievements and lies in the creation of a stronger, more empowered ecosystem that possesses the capacity for continued growth and development, even beyond one’s direct involvement. This profound dedication to impact, transformation, and the creation of a lasting legacy has been the propelling force throughout her career, guiding her in every decision she makes and every challenge she embraces.

In looking back at her impressive and impactful career journey, she emphasizes the crucial lessons learned. One critical insight is that “strategy without execution is just an idea”. This fundamental principle underscores her belief that a well-articulated vision, no matter how innovative or promising, holds little value without the practical steps and diligent implementation required to bring it to fruition.

Effective leadership demands agility, the courage to address mistakes, and the willingness to take calculated risks. Moreover, she highlights the importance of empowering teams and fostering a culture of innovation as key drivers of results.

Another powerful lesson Chinyelu shares is the significance of understanding and leveraging one’s strengths. She believes in identifying your “three spots”—areas of exceptional talent—and doubling down on them. Mastering your strengths, refining them, and leveraging them to create impact is what truly propels success. Recognizing the value of complementary skills within a team has been a game-changer in her leadership approach and high-impact decision-making.

Addressing the challenge of achieving a balance between personal and professional life, Chinyelu offers a pragmatic perspective: “The truth is, there is no perfect balance. Instead of striving for balance, I focus my energy where I am needed most at any given time”. Recognizing the fluid and often unpredictable demands of both career and personal responsibilities, she prioritizes a strategic allocation of her time and energy.

A cornerstone of her approach is “building a strong support system and mastering the art of delegation, ensuring that I am not consumed by micro-activities”. This strategic distribution of tasks and responsibilities allows her to step back from the immediate details, gain a broader, more holistic perspective, and engage in the critical thinking necessary to identify opportunities and navigate challenges effectively.

By being highly intentional about where she invests her time and energy, she is able to drive meaningful impact in both her professional and personal spheres. Ultimately, Chinyelu believes that “Success is not about doing everything—it’s about making the right decisions at the right time, in the right areas”.

Drawing on her extensive experience as a woman in a leadership position, she addresses the reality of gender-related challenges and obstacles. She said like many women, I have faced biases and barriers. However, her response to these challenges has been characterized by a proactive and internally driven approach. Rather than focusing on prejudgment, limitations and stereotypes placed on me based on my gender, I have always chosen to operate with a well-defined understanding of self.

She has consciously cultivated and maintained a clear and unwavering vision of who she truly is and who she wants to become. For Chinyelu, her career trajectory has been shaped by the deliberate alignment of her actions with her personal and professional aspirations rather than by conforming to external expectations or limitations imposed by societal biases.

By steadfastly staying anchored in her own definition of leadership and success, she ensures that her professional growth is intentional and self-directed by resolutely refusing to allow external biases to dictate her path, choosing instead to rely on her inherent competence, strategic thinking, and results to establish credibility. This unwavering mindset has not only been instrumental in navigating challenges but also consistently provides her with the right positioning to demand her worth”.

Considering the broader economic landscape, Chinyelu offers valuable insights into the significant contributions of women to Nigeria’s economic growth and development. She firmly believes that “Women are key drivers of economic growth, contributing to business innovation, workforce expansion, and entrepreneurship”. Furthermore, she opined that “Their leadership fosters inclusive decision-making and enhances organizational resilience”.

Engr. Amina Danmadami: A History Maker Dedicated to Collective Development

Danmadami
Danmadami

As the first female Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, Engr. Amina Danmadami is a leader in every sense of the word. With a career spanning over two decades, she has established herself as a renowned engineering professional, regulator, and industry leader with extensive experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. Indeed, her professional background is a testament to her dedication and passion for the industry.

She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, another Master’s degree in Petroleum Economics from the University of Port Harcourt and a PhD in Chemical Process and Energy Engineering from Robert Gordon University. Currently, Engr. Danmadami serves as Senior Manager at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) where she contributes to shaping Nigeria’s energy landscape through strategic regulatory oversight.

As Chairman of SPE Nigeria Council, she is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the Nigerian oil and gas industry, and she recognizes the importance of empowering women and providing them with the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to succeed in the field.

Passionate about shaping policies, driving regulatory efficiency and fostering industry collaboration to ensure a sustainable and competitive energy future, Engr Danmadami’s professional motivation is driven by a deep commitment to excellence, impact, and progress in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. More importantly, Engr. Danmadami’s primary catalyst for career success has been her zeal for tackling complex challenges, innovation and mentorship. It is, therefore, not surprising that she thrives in roles where she can influence positive change, bridge knowledge gaps, and empower others. This has driven her to excel in various leadership positions, including her current role as Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council.

To achieve a balance between her personal and professional life, Engr. Danmadami prioritizes, delegates and relies on a strong support system. In achieving a balance, she emphasizes the importance of self-care, setting boundaries, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

An advocate of equal opportunity, she believes that women play a vital role in Nigeria’s economic growth and development. “Women’s active participation in the workforce, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovation in the digital economy have contributed significantly to the country’s GDP and global competitiveness,” she asserted.

Despite their increased impact, Dr Danmadami noted that women still face challenges. From limited access to quality education and skills training, and patriarchal mindsets that limit their leadership potential.

In addressing these challenges, she advocated for targeted policies and initiatives that empower women, provide access to financial resources and create gender-sensitive workplace policies.

As Chairman of SPE Nigeria Council, the pragmatic engineer is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the petroleum engineering sector and the broader engineering industry. However, she acknowledged the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions and the need for targeted initiatives to address this gap.

On our part, the SPE Nigeria Council has launched programs such as the Women Leadership Lecture Series (WELLS), NAICE (Nigerian Annual International Conference and Exhibition) Women Leadership Program, and the Girl in STEM (GIS) Leadership Award. These programs provide mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities to empower women and prepare them for leadership roles in the industry,” she informed.

A goal-getter driving productivity with data-driven insights and expertise, Engr. Danmadami advised the girl child and women to believe in their limitless potential and never to allow societal expectations or biases to define their path. She encouraged them to stay curious, pursue their passions, and seek knowledge.

In her words, “As a girl child, know that your dreams are valid and your aspirations can take you anywhere. Your potential is not limited by gender and there is a world of opportunities waiting for you. Stay curious, pursue your passions, and seek knowledge. Never shy away from pursuing fields like science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), where your voice and contributions are needed. Surround yourself with people who support your dreams, seek mentorship, and never hesitate to reach out for guidance from those who have walked similar paths. To all women, remember that your value is not determined by anyone but you. While the road may be challenging, especially in industries traditionally dominated by men, know that your strength and resilience will carry you through. Don’t be afraid to take up space, raise your voice, and assert your worth.”

As the world marks International Women’s Day, Engr. Amina Danmadami’s remarkable journey stands out as a shining beacon of what it means to shatter glass ceilings and push boundaries. Apart from enforcing fair workplace policies, including equal pay and access to professional benefits, maternity leave, and flexible work arrangements, the government should actively drive financial inclusion, ensuring that women have improved access to funding and markets for entrepreneurial businesses and professional development, and lastly, both government and organizations should strengthen the legal protection against gender-based discrimination and violence at home and in the workplace.”
