Women agripreneurs take the stage at Brics+ agriculture summit

The 2025 Brics+ Agriculture Investment and Trade Summit promises to be a groundbreaking event in Africa’s agricultural sector, bringing together key players from government, business, and investment sectors to foster innovation, trade, and sustainable growth.
The summit, which will take place in Durban from 27 to 29 March 2025, will focus on empowering women-led agribusinesses while facilitating strategic partnerships across Brics+ nations and beyond.
In a statement, Brics Women’s Business Alliance South Africa said women entrepreneurs from Brics+ and African nations will pitch their agribusiness ventures to a panel of global investors, creating opportunities for direct funding, market expansion, and strategic partnerships.
“A dynamic exhibition platform will allow businesses to engage with international buyers and investors, ensuring real-time negotiations and market access. Thirty women-owned agribusinesses will be paired with industry experts for mentorship, providing crucial support in areas like technology, logistics, and finance.

“A session dedicated to enhancing Africa’s agricultural landscape, with key discussions on public-private partnerships, policy solutions, and investment strategies to support smallholder farmers,” the statement said.
Exploring sustainable solutions
According to the statement, the summit aims to solidify Africa’s role in the global agricultural sector, especially in trade, investment, and food security.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for stakeholders to drive tangible economic impact in agriculture, particularly through the inclusion of women agripreneurs.
“The sessions will be investment-focused, titled From Vision to Venture, this strategic session will focus on enhancing Africa’s agricultural footprint, fostering public-private partnerships, and unlocking investments to empower over 6 million smallholder farmers. Featuring 24 African ambassadors, economic attachés, and major agribusiness leaders, this session will explore policy-driven solutions for sustainable agricultural investment and trade.”
Women farmers will also get the opportunity to attend a prestigious gala dinner, featuring a traditional dress code to celebrate Africa’s diverse cultural heritage.
“This exclusive gathering will serve as a high-level networking platform, bringing together investors, policymakers, and business leaders to strengthen economic ties and explore new opportunities in the global agricultural value chain,” the statement said.
